  1. Architectural Building Photography by Julius Shulman (1910-2009)

    September 4, 2009 by newhouseofart

2009 is a year of profound pain and loss as a great bulwark dead and genius of photography. The best photographer in California and have been said many died on 16 this July. It is incredible to think that Julius Schulman change the world with his “snapshots”. What makes his work a masterpiece of art is that it shows the work of architects as they wanted to be seen, normally flows away from the viewer and near the corners. It is “dynamic symmetry” as opposed to the “symmetry monumental” I keep using in their works Marvin Rand.

Architecture and photography are all that is happening within and outside the frame at any point of view where their “snapshots” were taken. Julius Schulman was in perfect sync with the times and always had the ability to describe the tension in the scene, and this made his work a real work of art. Here I present a brief overview of his work at Case Study Houses an experiment sponsored by Arts & Architecture magazine and the result was surprisingly irresistible house, jewels of modern architecture by the hand of Richard Neutra, Raphael Soriano, Craig Ellwood, Charles and Ray Eames, Pierre Koenig and Eero Saarinen, which were built between 1945-1966 almost entirely in Los Angeles, CA.
